Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 June 2026
CalixNote (“the app”) is a private, offline notebook. We designed it so that your content stays on your device and under your control. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
We do not collect any data
CalixNote has no account system, no servers, and no analytics. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. The developer has no access to your notes, images, files, or any usage data.
Everything stays on your device
All content you create — notes, images, and files — is encrypted and stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Encryption keys are generated on the device and held in the iOS Keychain; they never leave the device. The app functions fully offline.
On-device processing
- OCR (camera/photos): text recognition runs on-device using Apple’s Vision framework. Images are not uploaded.
- Dictation (microphone): speech-to-text prefers on-device processing. If your selected language has no on-device model, the audio is sent to Apple’s speech-recognition service to transcribe it (handled by Apple under its own privacy policy). CalixNote itself does not store or transmit your audio.
- Read-aloud: handled by the system speech synthesizer on-device.
These permissions are optional and are requested only when you use the related feature.
Backups you control
If you choose to export a backup (.clx file), it is encrypted with a password you set (PBKDF2 + AES-256-GCM) and saved wherever you direct it. The backup never contains your private key. Exporting and where you store the file are entirely your choice.
No third parties
The app contains no third-party SDKs, advertising, or tracking technologies, and contacts no external services.
Children’s privacy
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
